Around Ansouis and the Luberon
The Luberon: an area full of authenticity
From forests to villages full of character: It is also the welcoming home for artists from all over the world, who come to stay here “for a day, forever”.
The Luberon is foremost a ridge teaming with luxuriant flora and exceptional fauna, and has been made a Regional Natural Park, to be explored by many paths and lanes.
It is also renowned for its wines, and as the land of the “bories”.
Visiting the Luberon is also to do with stopping in Gordes, Lourmarin, Ansouis and Lacoste, and with standing speechless in front of the cliffs of ochre at Roussillon or at the Colorado Provençal.
The Luberon is also the land where artists come to live, like Albert Camus, Henri Bosco, Paul Signac, Louis Montagné, Camille Corot, Nicolas de Stael, François Nourrissier; and where many still live today, like Jean Lacouture, Peter Mayle.
